Minimising passive calorie burning

Had an interesting conversation the other day about how many idle calories can be burned by doing things like fidgeting, moving legs around, etc. I wonder how much of an impact it really has on someone. For example, do you think that there's a significant difference between someone sitting at a desk typing for five hours and someone who laying still in bed watching TV for the same amount of time? Or is the calories burned between those activities barely notable?

Minimising passive calorie burning

Most likely it wouldn't be that much. The single biggest burner of calories is just existing. Hell, our brains use upwards of 20% of our daily calories. Of course, every movement does burn calories. But, the amount is tiny. When someone can run a mile and barely burn off a single soda. Most other stuff isn't gonna be enough. Keep getting over the average 2000-2500 calories we need each day. The higher the better, mostly. Hope that helps a little smiley
